Capabilities

What the UG67 does

8-channel radio

Semtech SX1302 concentrator, full LoRaWAN Class A/B/C, eight uplink channels.

Node capacity

Serves up to 2000 LoRaWAN end devices from a single outdoor site.

Multi-backhaul with failover

Gigabit Ethernet, 4G LTE and Wi-Fi, with automatic failover and failback to keep the link up.

PoE power

Single-cable install over 802.3af PoE, or 6-12 VDC via the M12 connector.

Packet forwarder

Semtech UDP, Basics Station and built-in network server, so it points straight at ChirpStack.

Data into your dashboard

Integration

Sensor / controller

Measures or controls in the field and sends LoRaWAN uplinks.

LoRaWAN gateway

Receives the radio packets and forwards them to the server.

ChirpStack

Network server: manages sessions and decodes the payload.

ThingsBoard / Grafana

Dashboards, alarms, rules and reports.

From the field

Configuration & pitfalls

Backhaul packet forwarder

Run it as a pure packet forwarder (Semtech UDP or Basics Station) toward your ChirpStack gateway bridge, and disable the built-in network server so devices are managed in one place.

PoE budget

The unit draws around 3.6 W typical, 4.8 W max. An 802.3af injector or switch is enough, but check the cable run length so the PoE voltage holds up over distance.

Frequency plan match

The radio variant is region-locked (EU868, US915, AS923 and others). Order the variant that matches your region and set the same plan in ChirpStack, or devices never join.

Antenna and lightning

For outdoor masts use the external N-Female connectors with a proper antenna and a surge arrester. Keep the coax run short to avoid losing the sensitivity advantage.

How merkaio supports your UG67

From sourcing to day-to-day operation, all from one partner on our own European infrastructure.

Pre-staging & provisioning

We configure the UG67, set keys, intervals and alarms, and ship it ready to deploy.

Own decoder

Payload codec for ChirpStack v4 and ThingsBoard, implemented from the Milesight specification.

Dashboard integration

Data lands in your ThingsBoard or Grafana, with alarms and reports.

Operations & monitoring

We run the LoRaWAN stack and dashboards on European infrastructure, you just use the data.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. The UG67 runs the Semtech packet forwarder and Basics Station, so it connects to a standard ChirpStack gateway bridge like any other LoRaWAN gateway. No Milesight cloud is required.
No. A gateway forwards raw LoRaWAN frames; payload decoding happens in the network server. You add a per-device codec in ChirpStack, for example our decoders for the EM, AM and WS sensor lines.
It supports up to 2000 end devices on its 8-channel SX1302 radio. The practical number depends on uplink interval, spreading factor and duty cycle in your region.
Gigabit Ethernet (with PoE), 4G LTE via a SIM slot, and 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. It supports automatic failover and failback between links to keep the connection up.
Yes. It is rated IP67 and operates from -40 to +70 °C, with external N-Female antenna connectors for mast or pole mounting, so it suits permanent outdoor coverage.
Either over 802.3af PoE on the Ethernet port for a single-cable install, or with 6-12 VDC through the M12 connector. Typical draw is about 3.6 W.
