What the UG67 does
8-channel radio
Semtech SX1302 concentrator, full LoRaWAN Class A/B/C, eight uplink channels.
Node capacity
Serves up to 2000 LoRaWAN end devices from a single outdoor site.
Multi-backhaul with failover
Gigabit Ethernet, 4G LTE and Wi-Fi, with automatic failover and failback to keep the link up.
PoE power
Single-cable install over 802.3af PoE, or 6-12 VDC via the M12 connector.
Packet forwarder
Semtech UDP, Basics Station and built-in network server, so it points straight at ChirpStack.
Integration
Sensor / controller
Measures or controls in the field and sends LoRaWAN uplinks.
LoRaWAN gateway
Receives the radio packets and forwards them to the server.
ChirpStack
Network server: manages sessions and decodes the payload.
ThingsBoard / Grafana
Dashboards, alarms, rules and reports.
Use cases
Smart city coverage
One IP67 mast unit covers parking, waste and street sensors across a district.
MoreSmart agriculture
15 km rural range links soil, level and weather sensors back to your server.
MoreSelf-hosted backbone
Point the gateway at your own ChirpStack instead of a vendor cloud, no data leaves your stack.
MoreConfiguration & pitfalls
Backhaul packet forwarder
Run it as a pure packet forwarder (Semtech UDP or Basics Station) toward your ChirpStack gateway bridge, and disable the built-in network server so devices are managed in one place.
PoE budget
The unit draws around 3.6 W typical, 4.8 W max. An 802.3af injector or switch is enough, but check the cable run length so the PoE voltage holds up over distance.
Frequency plan match
The radio variant is region-locked (EU868, US915, AS923 and others). Order the variant that matches your region and set the same plan in ChirpStack, or devices never join.
Antenna and lightning
For outdoor masts use the external N-Female connectors with a proper antenna and a surge arrester. Keep the coax run short to avoid losing the sensitivity advantage.
