Does LoRaWAN work in Münster's old town with its thick walls?

Yes, especially there. LoRaWAN uses 868 MHz - this frequency penetrates masonry and basement walls much better than WiFi. Ideal for meter reading in historic buildings or sensors in the Cathedral Chapter.

We have fields spread across the Münsterland. Do we need a gateway for each farm?

Not necessarily. A well-positioned gateway (e.g., on a silo) reaches 10-15 km in flat terrain. Often multiple farms can share a common network. We conduct a radio survey beforehand.

Do you also work with Stadtwerke Münster?

We're open to partnerships. Municipal utilities are often ideal partners for building urban IoT infrastructure. We provide the technology and know-how, utilities have the locations for gateways (transformer stations, lamp posts).

Can citizens also view the data - e.g., water levels or air quality?

Yes. We can develop public dashboards or citizen apps. This makes city transparency visible - e.g., 'What's the current water level of the Aa?' or 'How's the air quality at the Aasee lake?'.

Münster is famous for rain. Can the sensors handle that?

Definitely. We exclusively use IP67-certified industrial hardware. That means: dust-tight and waterproof when submerged. Münster's drizzle is no problem.

Can IoT predict flooding at the Aa or Werse rivers?

Early warning yes, prediction limited. Level sensors report rising water levels in real-time. With historical data and weather data, trends can be identified. For true prediction models, we work with specialized partners.

Is the system compliant for the university or UKM hospital?

Yes. Our systems run on German servers (ISO 27001, GDPR compliant). For particularly sensitive areas, we also offer on-premise installations in your own data center.

What does a pilot project cost for the city or a municipality in the Münsterland?

That depends on scope. A typical start with one gateway and 10 sensors (e.g., level, fill level) is in the low five-figure range. Funding programs like 'Smart Cities' can reduce costs. We support with grant applications.
