The End of Paper Lists.

Manual temperature checks cost time, are error-prone, and offer no security on weekends. merkaio replaces sporadic spot checks with permanent infrastructure.

The Risk

Manual readings & paper chaos. A cooling failure on the weekend isn't noticed until Monday - when the goods are spoiled.

The Solution

Real-time alerting via SMS, email, or call when thresholds are exceeded.

The Compliance Gap

USB loggers only provide data retrospectively. Creating seamless records for auditors is tedious.

The Solution

Automated PDF reports and EN12830-certified measurement accuracy for your HACCP documentation.

The Data Island

Data sits locally on devices or proprietary clouds. No integration with your IT.

The Solution

Open interfaces (API, MQTT). The data belongs to you and flows directly into your systems.

Legal Certainty Through EN12830 Standard.

merkaio is not a food producer, but we deliver the digital backbone for your quality management. Our infrastructure meets the strict technical requirements of DIN EN 12830 for the transport, storage, and distribution of chilled foods.

Certified Hardware

We rely on Milesight sensors that are officially tested according to EN12830.

Seamless History

"Data Retransmission" ensures that no measurements are lost even during internet outages. The sensor stores locally and transmits later.

HACCP Support

Our dashboards deliver exactly the data series you need for your hazard analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP).

Infrastructure for Cold Chain.

merkaio core

Deployment of professional LoRaWAN sensors with high building penetration (Deep Indoor Penetration). Works even from closed stainless steel refrigerators and cold rooms.

merkaio ops

We monitor not only the temperature but the "health" of the sensors (battery level, signal strength). We monitor platform operation proactively (SLA-based).

merkaio cloud

Central, encrypted data storage in German data centers. Long-term archiving for audits.

Frequently Asked Questions

For critical areas (e.g., pharma, laboratory), regular calibration is mandatory. We offer two models: • Exchange Service: We send you freshly calibrated probes or devices before the calibration interval expires. • On-site Calibration: A service provider calibrates the sensors at your location while we digitally synchronize the data. Milesight sensors (e.g., TS301) support easy probe replacement without having to disassemble the entire device.
Yes. For storing medicines and vaccines (Good Distribution Practice), more precise measurements and warning systems are often required. We use special PT100 sensors (e.g., Milesight TS101 or EM500-PT100) that cover an extremely wide measurement range (down to -200°C for dry ice/nitrogen) and work with high precision.
This depends on your booked service level. By default, we store data for 12 to 24 months to enable seasonal analyses. For audit purposes, we offer long-term archiving (e.g., 5 or 10 years) on "Cold Storage" in the cloud to cost-effectively meet legal retention periods.
Yes, the system fully digitizes temperature documentation. Manual lists are eliminated. We still recommend regular visual inspection of the devices (e.g., for icing), which is facilitated by the displays on the sensors.
In 95% of cases: No. We use flat cable probes that can be routed through the rubber door seal without damaging the insulation. The wireless sensor itself is magnetically attached to the outside of the cell. This is non-invasive and installed in minutes.
Thanks to LoRaWAN technology, the sensors are extremely energy-efficient. With a typical transmission interval of 10 to 15 minutes, batteries (e.g., in the Milesight EM320-TH) last 5 to 10 years. Our Operations team proactively monitors battery status and contacts you months in advance before a replacement is needed.
Yes, this is the strength of our architecture. Each branch gets a small gateway (Plug & Play). All data flows into a central dashboard. Your quality manager at headquarters sees the status of all 50 locations on a map ("Single Pane of Glass") and can make comparisons.
Yes. We use LoRaWAN, which physically has very high penetration. For difficult cases (thick steel doors), we use sensors with external probes: The flat cable probe goes inside, the transmitter unit sticks magnetically to the outside of the housing. This ensures reliable reception even with thick steel doors.
The sensors are battery-powered (continue running). Additionally, our Milesight models have internal storage for up to 10,000 measurements. As soon as the gateway is back online, the missing data is automatically uploaded to the cloud ("Data Retrieval"). There are no gaps in the documentation.
Nothing is worse than "Alarm Fatigue" (desensitization from false alarms). We configure intelligent hysteresis in the backend: An alarm is only triggered when the temperature has been above the threshold for a defined time (e.g., 20 minutes). This way, briefly opening the door or normal defrost cycles don't immediately trigger a panic SMS.
Yes. Our alarm logic (in Grafana or ThingsBoard) is flexible. We can set up schedules, e.g., to tighten tolerance limits at night when cold storage doors should be closed, compared to daytime during busy goods receiving.
Yes. Many of our sensors (like the EM320-TH) are combination devices for temperature and relative humidity. This is particularly important for storing dry goods, vegetables, cigars, or in server rooms to prevent mold growth or static discharge.
We set up escalation chains: • After 15 min: Email to branch manager. • After 30 min: SMS to district manager. • After 60 min: Automated voice call to emergency service. This ensures that critical problems are not ignored.
